Glasgow-based Digital Agency, Innovation Digital, has been appointed by British Waterways Scotland to develop a new website for Scotland’s canals.
British Waterways Scotland is responsible for the 137 mile canal network which includes the Caledonian, Crinan, Forth & Clyde, Union and Monkland canals. In recent years, British Waterways Scotland has worked closely with local authorities, voluntary groups, private companies and other government agencies to transform Scotland’s canals into an important national asset.
Innovation Digital will work with the British Waterways Scotland team to develop a fresh online presence to portray Scotland’s canals in a new vibrant, exciting and interactive way. The key aim of the project is to engage British Waterways Scotland’s varied audiences, through interactive and Web 2.0 technologies with information that is pertinent to them.
Alasdair Burns, British Waterways Scotland’s National Marketing & Communications Manager said “We are looking forward to working with Innovation Digital. We need to challenge public perceptions and surprise people by presenting Scotland’s canals in an unexpected and contemporary way. We will look to encourage users to view Scotland’s canals as somewhere to live, work, play and invest.”
Work has already started on defining the requirements and the first phase will be completed at the end of the July 2010. Graeme Fletcher, Marketing Manager at Innovation Digital said “We will develop a robust and scalable solution which will provide British Waterways Scotland with the ideal platform to engage key their stakeholders in this initiative. Not only does this give us a wonderful creative opportunity but it is a great chance to capitalise on the latest Web 2.0 advancements.”
The good news comes at a time when Innovation Digital has launched new websites for Clyde Waterfront, Investment Property Search, Scottish Churches Parliamentary Office and Bellcom Contact Centres.
