New Web Design for Clyde Waterfront

2nd June 2010

Innovation Digital, one of Glasgow’s leading Digital Marketing agencies was recently appointed to create a new website for Clyde Waterfront, the public sector partnership supporting the River Clyde’s revitalisation as a world class waterfront location.

Features of the new website at www.clydewaterfront.com include a project timeline (http://www.clydewaterfront.com/about-clyde-waterfront/timeline.aspx) which illustrates the unfolding progress of the Clyde Waterfront regeneration, a live Twitter feed to inform audiences of latest developments in real time, and enhanced information on over 250 individual regeneration projects.

The site offers a fully searchable database where visitors can view more detail on the projects and also locate them on an interactive map.

To improve functionality, the new web site is built on the Open Source Content Management System solution, Umbraco 4.0.  Behind the scenes, this allows Clyde Waterfront staff to easily manage the ever-changing status of project development through planning, construction completion and occupancy.

The new site was developed following qualitative research and usability testing with core audiences.  It replaces the original website developed in 2005 by Innovation Digital who, as Clyde Waterfront’s digital partner, provides a range of services including online marketing, web copywriting, training, user testing, design and web development.

The transformation of the Clyde has been illustrated through stunning imagery on the site.  This has been provided since 2005 by McAteer Photograph (http://www.mcateerphotograph.com), Glasgow photographers who obviously know and love their locale.

This is a major step forward in building profile for Clyde Waterfront. We have redesigned the website to make it even more informative and easy to use for our many thousands of regular and first-time visitors from across the world who are interested in the Clyde’s regeneration.

Background Information

Clyde Waterfront is the public sector partnership established in 2003 to support the River Clyde’s revitalisation as a world class waterfront location, through a projected £5-6 billion of public and private investment in economic, social and environmental regeneration projects, over the next 20 years.

The strategic partners behind Clyde Waterfront are the Scottish Government, Glasgow City Council, Renfrewshire Council, West Dunbartonshire Council, Strathclyde Police and Scottish Enterprise. The project has been accorded National Priority status and is a key driver of Scotland’s continuing economic development.

Plans to transform the environment, local communities, transport infrastructure and economy along 13 miles of the river from Glasgow, via Renfrew to Dumbarton make Clyde Waterfront the largest project of its kind in Scotland.

Currently, the Clyde Waterfront regeneration plan has a diverse range of over 250 commercial, housing, retail, leisure and transport projects, all at different stages of development. Approximately £2 billion has already been invested to date mainly by the private sector with a further £1.6 billion of mainly public funds currently underway or committed by 2012.
