Developing the highest standards of web accessibility

The Capability Scotland website is the current expression of a strategic collaboration between Innovation Digital and one of Scotland's leading charities that stretch back for more than four years.

Capability Scotland is one of Scotland's leading disability organisations working for a just Scotland. They work with children, adults and families living with disabilities to support them in their everyday lives.

The Brief:
The site needed to deliver the highest standards of accessibility without compromising on design quality or information architecture. Recent developments include extranet areas that allow easy communications between field workers and the centre. Over the last year Innovation Digital has also developed a new intranet for the organisation and following a usability and website audit, updated and redesigned Capability Scotland's Schools' website.

The Solution:
The Capability Scotland solution is now underpinned by an Umbraco CMS solution. This system has the scalability and flexibility on which to build the new intranet and which Innovation Digital will implement in the future.

The Results:
The design of the website ensures that promotional themes and images used offline are brought to prominence on the site and integrates the online look-and-feel closely with other marketing and fundraising activities.

Effective information architecture design ensures that site vistiors are routed swiftly to key areas of the site, whether that is fundraising activity, access to news and performance information or details on current lobbying and campaign activity
