Increasing the quantity of rich content for McLaren Software
The Brief:
After a competitive pitch, Innovation Digital was selected to enhance the online profile of the company with a view to creating a modern, consistent and professional B2B look and feel. The key was to create a website that reflects the industry sector leadership, product strength and target the key audiences that typically purchase their software.
The Solution:
The project began with an extensive user research and requirements gathering phase which aimed to provide a detailed insight into users' expectations and requirements. Innovation Digital then created the appropriate Information Architecture, developed wireframes and then provided a modern, appealing B2B look and feel.
From the initial analysis stage, it became clear that Umbraco CMS would meet the McLaren's requirements. Umbraco provided all the functionality required such as multi media management, version control, workflow, roles based user management and an intuitive user interface. Using Umbraco's page structure, Innovation Digital built a simple, easy to navigate Information Architecture which made it extremely straightforward for non technical users to find, add and edit the site content easily and efficiently.
One of the main aims of the project was to allow McLaren to increase the quantity of rich content on the site including greater product information, technical data sheets, news, regional information and research papers which was easily handled by the CMS. Umbraco also provided the scalability McLaren required as there are no restrictions on the number of websites, domains or users due to the open source nature of the system
The Results:
The new website instantly opened up wider communication channels for McLaren. Improved functionality and increased information on the site for both new and potential customers and helped improve sales channels.
The new Information Architecture, navigation and sign posting also allowed users to easily find the information they are looking for with the appropriate calls to action. The sleek and modern design has also set McLaren apart from their competitors as one of the premier suppliers of ECM platforms.
