Sleep in the Park
We often complain about having a bad day. That our lives or our days are sometimes hard. We are often wasteful and undervalue what we have or what we own; materially and socially.
Our “bad days” and bad experiences are nothing in comparison to the challenges faced by homeless people and people less fortunate; often due to circumstances outwith their control. Sleep in the Park is an amazing initiative and charity event created by Social Bite; a not-for-profit chain of sandwich shops who put 100% of their profit into solving social problems. A quarter of their staff are from homeless and extremely excluded backgrounds.
Sleep in the Park is a serious attempt and strategy to eradicate homelessness in Scotland, for good. It takes the form of a mass sleep-out in Princess Street Gardens on December 9th and Team ID are joining some friends from Marketing Society Scotland (TeamMSS) to do our bit. We’re doing this because we want everyone to come together to raise awareness of and change this problem for good; not as a temporary fix or sticking plaster approach.
We’re doing this, but we need you.
We know it’s an expensive time of year, but everyone can afford a little, to help a lot and aid in eradicating this problem. For good. So please, skip some treats, pass up on a pint, say goodbye to a glass of wine or do without something you don’t need … as much as others do. Please donate and help everyone in Scotland have a warm winter this year.
If you can spare 4 minutes of your time …
I would urge you to watch the following film, which heart-wrenchingly brings the reality to life. You making a small sacrifice would mean that some people in this film don’t make the ultimate sacrifice. https://stv.tv/news/features/1402372-big-sleepout-charity-bids-to-change-fortunes-of-homeless/
And if you can spare a few pounds …
