Top Tips: landing pages that will convert
We recently read guidelines which maintained that the secret to creating an exceptional online customer experience when it comes to landing pages includes the fundamentals of usability.
This is something we whole heartedly agree with and Peter Morville’s User Experience Honeycomb is something which we use throughout our whole project process right from the initial user research stage through to design & development.
Your landing pages can often be a visitor’s first exposure to your brand so it is vital to get it right in order to get those important conversions.
Here’s some of our favourite tips for creating exceptional, usable landing pages that will convert:
- Focus user experience and make the page usable by using clean navigation and succinct calls to action with large buttons above the fold which will easily nudge the customer to the desired action
- Convey credibility by providing testimonials, case studies & quotes or social proof by embedding social media widgets or providing data on how many people have already took action on this page to give confidence to the visitor;
- Convey trust & security by effectively using your branding & logos, placing trust/security icons and assurances on the pages.
Streamline user experience by eliminating unnecessary hurdles. If using forms only include those fields absolutely necessary to convert. Don’t forget to have a thank-you page that adds value too.
- Deliver a clear value proposition which is benefits led and helps clearly define your product or service
Take these top tips on board when implementing your next landing page and you’re sure to see improvements to your conversion rate.
