Helping Scotland Get Cycling Friendly
Cycling Scotland’s awards programme supports workplaces, schools, campuses and communities across Scotland to be Cycling Friendly by achieving their nationally recognised award.
Following on from a recent re-brand, Cycling Scotland required a complete digital transformation of the Cycling Friendly certification process. The new system was to be an easy to use, single, scalable and secure system that was mobile responsive, with a modern user experience and interface to easily on-board schools, campuses, businesses and individuals.
The system was designed to allow Cycling Scotland’s end users to create their own online accounts and to apply for and manage certification, as well as to improve operational efficiencies of the organisation by simplifying and part-automating the process for Cycling Scotland assessors.
We worked closely with Cycling Scotland’s assessors to design and build a system centred entirely around Cycling Scotland’s services to improve operational efficiencies and to allow their end users to be more empowered to take control of their certificates, allowing a greater degree of self-service functionality.
The cycling certification system is based on the Open Source (Microsoft based) Content Management System; Umbraco. The back office administration system was shaped to deliver a bespoke solution for Cycling Scotland and the service they offer, designed in part with their many assessors, who use the system from several regions across Scotland to manage and process certificates.
What was once a time consuming process involving many disconnected systems and spreadsheets is now a single, centralised system that’s fully mobile responsive. The system brings huge operational efficiencies to the organisation and empowers users with a greater degree of self service making it easier than ever for Scotland to Get Cycling Certified!
We are so impressed by the level of service and delivery of the Cycling Friendly client system for Cycling Scotland. The team at Innovation Digital had a clear understanding of our brief and the aims of the programme to create a healthier Scotland. The brief was enhanced by ID team’s creative and dynamic approach to the project and the finished product exceeded our expectations and was delivered within agreed financial and scheduling targets. Communication tools available to us as a client ensured information was conveyed in a clear and consistent manner with ID systems working to address issues as they arose and provide solutions. The new site has received positive feedback from our service users and is ensuring greater efficiency for us as an organisation. The experience has provided us with the confidence to consider future opportunities to improve our systems and we hope to have the opportunity to work with the team at ID again in the future.Kath Brough
